This listing is for a matching pair of oak Arts and Crafts era recliners (circa 1910). Both the seat base and the arms have a graceful curve to them - not the normal flat aspect with less expensive chairs. Finely crafted and a pleasure to sit in. Both chairs are structurally sound, and no major damage is present. Some of the slats on the seat support area have obviously been replaced, and one (on the right chair in the picture) is missing a single slat.It cannot be felt when sitting on it, but should be replaced if they will be put into service. The cushion seat fabric appears to be original - the fabric is worn as shown in the photos, and one corner shows some moth damage (close up) but the backing and fill are (relatively) new. I had been planning to recover with some Wm Morris fabric from Liberty. The chairs offer a reclined position by changing the position of the seat bar, and the original hardware is in place (many chairs that you see today only have the slots, but are missing the brass retainers). The seatbacks are hinged and fold forward going flat allowing easy transport. Any questions - or additional shots needed, please let me know.
