This antique Arts and Crafts oak bookcase and book table is quite probably a Liberty piece, with the popular shaped spades symbol on the front, back and ends. This is also made in its entirety from beautifully grained quarter sawn oak boards, and has a good original golden colour - all indicators of a pedigree origin. Please check the pictures and decide for yourself.
This piece is generally in a good antique condition but has one foot which is wormeaten - please see last picture. We have treated this but it would look better repaired or replaced - a simple matter if you have a small piece of shaped oak to fix in its place. Please note also the top is made up of two separate oak planks, and they are slightly loose and would benefit from fixing down more firmly, although this is a minor point and not an essential repair. SIZES: at top this measures 25" x 12.75" and the height is 30.5. The shelf heights are 10" and 9".
With a little TLC and polish or wax, this could make a superb and very desirable piece of Arts and Crafts furniture, a fine addition to any collection or period interior.
