These stunning bookends were manufactured by the Heintz Art Metal Co on sterling silver over bronze, these are pattern number 7148. Heintz offered their pieces in a variety of finishes -- these look to be hand-stippled French Grey Silver.Offered as found -- they were discovered tucked in a box in the back of an attached garage. In excellent condition with only the usual signs of aging. All corners are straight and strong. The original burgundy felt still on the bottom, albeit loose in some areas. Each is 5-1/8" tall and 5-1/2" wide. These distinctive Arts & Crafts bookends would make an attractive addition to your vintage book collection, and enhance the decorative inclinations of those who appreciate the early 1900's design that included Stickley, Roycroft, and others in the craft guilds movement.
