RARE Antique Arts and Crafts Oak Elbow Chair Circa 1900 in the manner of'Liberty'. Sprung seat with all new horsehair filling and new top fabric in velvet by William Morris. A beautifully designed , hand crafted'Arts and Crafts' chair with floor stretchers running front to back and having a generous , comfortable sprung seat. Feature pierced cut outs to rear back splats. The entire chair is hand crafted from high quality quarter sawn oak so that it naturally exhibits very attractive tiger stripe striations in the grain which you should be able to notice in photos 5 and 10.
These are not faults in the wood, just the natural grain , often referred to as medullary rays. The chair measures : 94 cm MAXIMUM HEIGHT to the top of the finials at either side of backrest. WIDTH: 57 cm from outer armrest to outer armrest. SEAT PAD HEIGHT : 51 cm to top of pad.
