It is a captivating piece, which has moonstones set also in the Arts and Crafts chain. The pendant shows scroll work, which is beautifully hand crafted and therefore, not symmetrical. You can really sense the work of the artist and craftsman. Typically, the central pendant section consists of three parts, giving a wonderfully articulated movement. The first section has a lovely bezel set blue moonstone, which has shimmering colour. The bezel mount has a rope twist at the base, typical of the Arts and Crafts period at this time. Very reminiscent of the Gaskins' pieces, there are two square settings housing a green glass stone, one to either side of the moonstone. The blue and green provide an understated, yet elegant colour base for the pendant. Filigree scrolls form the structure of the design.
The central part of the pendant is a large heart shape, again filled with scrolled, openwork detailing. There is a round, white moonstone mounted at the bottom. There is another round white claw set moonstone drop suspended from the second panel. Each of the panels are linked together with, again very Gaskinesque, round forget me not flower links. There is so much detailing in the pendant section alone, but the chain provides further attention to tiny details.
A typical Arts and Crafts chain is used and it is always so delightful to have a piece where the chain is original and complements the pendant. It has intricate cross over links and there are two oval moonstones set within the chain on each side so that the moonstone theme from the pendant continues up the chain to your neck.It has a solid replacement catch which is secure. Slight chip from one of the tiny glass square sections-visible under loupe and one of the tiny crossovers on one chain link is not perfect.
