Heals of London Antique Limed Oak Extendable Dining Table - 1920's/1930's/Arts and Crafts. It is from the famous furniture store, Heals and we believe it is from the 1920's/1930's.
It is very much in the style of the'Arts and crafts' movement, which was a reaction to the decadent and fussy Art Deco pieces that were very popular at the time. The simple clean lines of the table have proved to be timeless, and it will suit modern interiors as much as period houses. The piece has two independently extendable wings which simply pull out as required. It is in generally very good condition as can be seen by the photographs - structurally it is perfect with no missing screws, cracks, woodworm or anything. Aesthetically, there is a water mark on one of the wings that may need attention, and some general other marks but nothing major.
We bought the table and chairs, with a matching sideboard in 1998 and it has always been inside. The piece was originally limed oak, but this has faded on the top (it was like this when we bought it) and we have made no attempt to sand, or re-apply the liming. Some light restoration work could bring this set back to a stunning condition. The set is by collection only, and you are welcome to arrange courier collection from Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire.
