Exceptional rare 1930s color woodblock print, "Hen Wife, " by listed Scottish artist Helen G. Stevenson studied with Frank Morley Fletcher at the Edinburgh College of Art. She exhibited regularly in the 1920s and 1930s, including exhibitions at the Society of Graver Printers in Colour, the California Society of Printmakers, and the Bromhead Gallery in London.She taught art at the St. Andrews Cottage School in Edinburgh for a number of years. Stevenson's work is in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, and others. This print is signed lower right, titled lower left and numbered 19/100.
It measures 7" x 5.5" (image size) and is in good condition with apparent paper toning and perhaps fading of the colors (not examined out of frame ---- the print could be mounted to backing).
