Lath back, elbow chair from the Arts and Crafts Movement. It is in good condition; very sturdy, strong and clean, but needs a new home. It has a high back, compared to the seat height, which puts the design around 1890 something.Typical of Morris designs, has been replaced with a plywood base. This could be reversed and a new rush seat reinstated for perfection, but the frame is perfect. William Morris (1834 - 1896) was a founder member of the Victorian Arts and Crafts Movement. This movement was a push against industrial production, in favour of hand made quality craftsmanship.
