"Arts And Crafts Of The Homelands" Very rare Original Linocut signed in pencil. Sight area only is 6.25 X 5.25.
Total framed size is 13.5 X 17. There is about 1 or do extra margin under matting. Vojtech Preissig (18731944) was one of the most prominent Czech artists and designers of the first half of the twentieth century. His influence on typography and graphic design was international (in fact he was often more recognized abroad than domestically). Preissig was involved in Czech resistance, Anti-Nazi propaganda through his graphic arts, and publication. He was arrested by the Nazis and died in Dachau Concentration Camp in 1944. Condition: Wood framed and matted under glass. See images of work removed for inspection. I have remounted with acid free linen tape and placed in new matting. The old Czech masking tape caused chemical reaction with paper, but only at areas touched by tape.
Possibly the right conservator can fix the discoloration. The new matting conceals the darker edge nicely. The paper is a little toned from old framing, also reversible if you have it conserved.
