Beautiful Antique Danish Skonvirke Silver Pendant Brooch set with pretty Apple Green Chrysoprase Cabochons. The brooch is in the style of Mogens Ballin and Evald Nielsen key jewellers of the Danish Skonvirke Arts and Crafts movement. The brooch measures 50 mms wide x 60 mms drop approximately.
The design is fluid and abstract with curvi-linear high relief and a tactile hand planished finish. The glow of the silver complemented by the beautiful natural Chrysoprase gemstone. It really is a fine example of the jewellery genre.
The main body of the brooch suspends the free hanging pendant drop giving a nice movement to the piece. I see many of this style of brooch that have been converted to necklaces and they look fabulous it is actually quite easy to just pin them to a chain and wear in that style if you do not want to compromise the integrity of the beautiful antique jewel.
The brooch is stamped with the Danish Silver 830s assay on the reverse and a makers Monogram. I did know the maker a long time ago and have sadly forgot it is a scarce mark. Skonvirke of course was the Danish interpretation of the Arts and Crafts movement blended with the organic forms of Art Nouveau with a focus on skilled craftsmanship and the beauty of hand made individual items. Skonvirke jewellery used many organic and abstract forms inspired by nature and the elements, jewellery like in the arts and crafts movement was set with gemstones such as Amber, agates, carnelian and chrysoprase.
