A wonderful Arts and Crafts movement small sideboard in oak. Sideboard has a two piece oak top above to the left one single drawer and cupboard, to the right a single cupboard. Cupboard doors have chamfered and moulded panels and original hard wear.
Below the top left and right are shaped abutted "ears"- these are also on the rear. To the base there is a shaped frieze front and sides. Front has a small open fret cut out shape. To the interior the left hand cupboard has one removable shelf in pine, the left hand cupboard one fixed shelf in oak- there are obvious marks of use to the interior. The oak is high quality with a good grain pattern, it is a lovely colour as it has been refinished and waxed. The hard wear is quite spectacular: a large shield shape handle to the drawer, exaggerated hinges to the doors and elaborate key escutcheons. Hard wear is in copper and brass- brass has been used on the drop handles as it is more hard wearing than the softer copper. A very useful and attractive piece of furniture and a good size- not too wide or deep.
In good refinished condition with signs of use to interior. A very fine example of an Arts and Crafts sideboard. Viewing is welcome by appointment, please contact me to arrange.
