For sale is this fully restored antique Victorian Arts and Crafts cast iron fire surround from a period property in Manchester.

It carries authentic diamond foundry marks dating its construction to 1880. It has been professionally stripped, cleaned, heatproof coated and polished to bring out its original character. Authentic, made of solid cast iron in generous proportions and lovely condition. Fits neatly over an existing fireplace opening. Works as a fully functioning fire surround.

Perfect for a living room or bedroom. Complete with a matching set of freestanding (not attached) antique bars and a period mantle that we added during restoration. We can drill discreet, countersunk mounting holes on the upper outside edges (beneath the shelf) for easy and safe installation with a couple of strong wall screws. If you would like this doing, please leave us a note at checkout. This particular fire surround features beautiful natural decoration across the frieze including berries, butterfly, bird and leaves. A stunning repeating pattern is typical arts and crafts style, inspired by leading designers of the time like Thomas Jeckyll. As with all of our items it may bear the odd very well concealed sign of the restoration work, but this just adds to the character of the piece in our view.

102.5cm high (bottom to top of mantle). 76cm wide at body, widening to 77cm. Rear projection into the chimney breast is 2cm, making this a great choice to fit over an existing fireplace opening rather than against a flat wall.
