A charming set of Arts and Crafts Metamorphic chair steps in oak. Late Victorian, c1890, and still a very functional item. The chair flips over to form a set of sturdy short steps, originally for use in your private library. In solid good condition, with some signs of age and wear, and it has a lovely patina.

This has had no restoration, and is in aged original condition, It lacks it's locking rod which can be easily replaced with a long hook or chain. It has lost a number of the original wood decorative studs, as can be seen from the photos, and although these could be restored the lovely shapes left behind are attractive in their own right and it perhaps should be kept exactly as it is.
