THE KALO SHOP STERLING PLATES (2) c1920 HAND WROUGHT This is a beautifully designed c1920 set of completely hand raised sterling silver dinner plates from the Kalo Shop. Barch, along with five other women graduates of the Chicago Art Institute formed the design / shop. She chose the name Kalo, which in Greek means "to make beautiful". In time became the most famous source of Arts & Crafts silver, training or working with renowned artisans like Randahl and Novick.
Kalo silver is displayed in The Chicago Art Institute, RISD Yale University Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art and many others. Adorned with period applied Art Deco inspired conjoined initials. Hallmarked as shown, along with production # K 735 indicates c1920 production. This c1920 completely hand wrought Kalo sterling plates 11 1/8 inches. And set weighs 35 1/2 standard ounces.
