This is a very good late Victorian open waterfall bookcase. It dates to around 1890 and is made in solid oak. The bookcase owes a lot to Arts and Crafts design of the period. The bookcase has clean lines and simple shaping to the top and has typically Arrs and Crafts cut away feet. The shelves are joined to the side risers with mortise and tenon joints which indicates the quality of the build and means the construction is very solid.
This is an elegant handsome period open bookcase and will hold a lot of books. The waterfal design means it can hold tall books as well as paperback size. The bookcase is 36.5 inches wide and 8 inches deep and 65 inches high. The shelves are each 7.5, 9, 8.75, 9.5, and 11.5 inches high. I have some excellent bookcases listed this week so do check out my other listings.
