This is an original arts and crafts chair that was given to the Greatgrandfather of the lady I bought this from. It was in the arts and crafts era for his arts and crafts home in Woodford Green, Essex. They were Timber merchants and it is likely this was one of their customers.
The chair had been used and was well loved. It was striped down for restoration but as you can see it is a blank canvas waiting for its new look and life. I have included a photo of a similar chair that is finished so that you can Gague size in context. I have the PU leather replacement for the original leather pieces and they are all labelled to help with reupholstery. It used to have a loose cushion in the base with a fabric cover which is long gone. I think this was a originally a green linen type, but could have had a tapestry style cover if you want to make something like the original. It was originally a leather chair applied with studs. You will see the marls in the PU for the size and spacing. Very low to the ground so good for cat or small dog bed when fixed. Slats at base are damaged in places and have a crude repair in pine. Measuring Approximately 62cm Heigh 65cm Wide 58cm Deep. Collection welcome from Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales.
